Jam City Expands to Europe with Acquisition of Berlin Based Mobile Games Studio, 231 Play

Jam City, a leader in mobile entertainment, continues its global expansion with the opening of Jam City Germany and the acquisition of mobile games studio 231 Play. Founders Matthias and Thomas Hoechsmann join Jam City and will continue to manage development and operations from the company’s new Berlin studio. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

231 Play founders Matthias and Thomas Hoechsmann have a long history in mobile development. They are best known for ‘Game Doctors,’ acquired by Zynga in 2011, and the hit game Zombie Smash. Their background in research and big data analysis influences their game design philosophy and 231 Play’s development process that is driven by iteration, reinvention, and imagination.

Today’s announcement follows Jam City’s recent multi-year partnership with Disney and its acquisition of Uken Studios in Toronto. Jam City now has eight studios in the U.S., Canada, Argentina, Colombia, and Germany.
